Welcome to Beech class
Class teacher: Miss Knight
Teaching Assistant: Mrs Humphreys
We hope that your child enjoys the new challenges and approaches to learning that Year 1 has to offer. The Year 1 curriculum builds upon and extends the experiences that children have had in Reception.
Our topic for this half term is 'All About Me / My Front Door', exploring our bodies, families and where we live. After the half term we will be 'Going on a Walk' where we will take a look at farm life, London and so much more!
Homework and Reading
In Year 1, we expect children to read every night for 10 minutes. Please do make sure their reading record is signed by an adult so your child can receive their 'reading at home' dojo! It also enables us to check when books need changing, or if we need to adjust your child's reading level!
Your child will also get a piece of homework every week - this could be maths, phonics, writing or something based on our topic learning. If you have any questions about the homework, please do ask us at the door or message on dojo.
Homework is set on a Friday and is due in on Wednesdays - any homework that is not completed will be caught up during Golden Time.
PE: Monday and Friday - please leave kits in school all week!
PE Kits should contain a yellow t-shirt, green shorts or jogging bottoms, and plimsolls or trainers.
Bottles: Should contain water only- no squash/juice.
Allergies: No nuts in packed lunches please!
We hope your children have a fabulous time in Beech class!
