Welcome to Sycamore class
Class teacher: Miss Shaw
Teaching Assistant: Miss Steed
In our History topic this half term we will be studying the 'Vikings'. We will be looking at what life was like under Viking rule as well as gaining knowledge about what they did, where they travelled to and how.
In the second half term we will be looking at Climatic Catastrophes, including hurricanes, tornados and other amazing feats of nature. We will be looking at where they occur, why and their impact on the world around them.
In Maths we will be continuing to have a big push of knowing all of our multiplication tables. We all need to know these as we use them so much in every day life as well as in our Maths lessons. Our Year 4 children will also be sitting the new multiplication tables check this summer so we want them to feel confident and well prepared.
(If you google 'Multiplication Tables Check' you can find lots of free examples of the test - please do help by practicing all the tables (up to 12x12) with your child as often as you can).
In English will be continuing to look at a range of amazing texts and challenging ourselves to become even better writers. We will be focussing on increasing our vocabulary as well as the different styles of sentence we can use.
Musically, we will be continuing to learn the recorder as well as learning about some key British composers.
In Science we will be busy gaining an understanding of the animal life cycle and then space. We will be doing lots of investigating and practicing our skills in planning, predicting and drawing conclusions.
Our main PE lesson is on a Monday afternoon with a second one on a Friday. It would be really helpful if your child's PE kit could be in school everyday though.
Homework will be sent home on a Wednesday and need to be back in the following Monday.
Thank you for your on going support and please do pop in and see me if you have any questions.
Things to remember:
Diary - Everyday
